About Gatalin XL

Welcome to gatalin.co.uk

Gatalin® XL is a prolonged-release capsule of galantamine indicated for the symptomatic treatment of mild to moderately severe dementia of the Alzheimer type.1

Available as:

  • 8mg prolonged-release capsules

  • 16mg prolonged-release capsules

  • 24mg prolonged-release capsules

Gatalin XL is bioequivalent to Reminyl® (galantamine) XL (Shire Pharmaceuticals Limited, Hampshire, UK).2

Gatalin XL could offer significant cost savings to your practice and clinical commissioning group (CCG).

Galantamine 8mg, 16mg and 24mg prolonged-release capsules are in category C of the UK Drug Tariff.3

However, the NHS can make 50% savings on the cost of category C galantamine by prescribing Gatalin XL by brand name.3*

Quite simply a wholesale switch of galantamine 8mg, 16mg and 24mg prolonged-release prescriptions to Gatalin XL could still save an average CCG £9,187 per year.4**

Gatalin XL is one of Aspire Pharma’s cost saving prolonged-release products.

In addition Gatalin XL:

  • Available from mainline wholesalers;

  • High level of stockholdings;

  • Price guaranteed***

  • Bioequivalent to the originator brand;2

*50% saving on the cost of Category C galantamine prolonged-release capsules in the UK Drug Tariff. **Savings based on market data in reference 4. Savings calculated from 2019 spend for 218 CCGs switching their generic and originator brand 8mg, 16mg and 25mg galantamine prolonged-release capsule prescriptions to Gatalin XL. ***No change in price subject to no material change to the products or Category C of the UK Drug Tariff until the 2024 PPRS review.
